PDAs, Cell Phones and Blackberries for Student Communication
An increasing number of UofT academic programs require students to spend a portion of their time out in the workplace or in field placements, but also report back in to their professors with regular updates on their progress. We have been experimenting with allowing students to report back in through wireless and cellular devices (PDAs, cell phones and Blackberries). This presentation will demonstrate some of the applications we are using, with a discussion of what has worked and what hasn't. A second goal of the presentation is to initiate a community of practice on campus vis-à-vis handheld computing.
