1. Digg is a website where users submit news articles, videos, and other interesting things that are then voted upon - the most popular items rise to the top of the page

2. Who uses Digg?
Mostly males 16-34, tech savvy, left leaning

3. Advantages:

  • Wisdom of crowds - a useful story is something many people vote on
  • Poor stories can also be "buried" (voted down)
  • on person one vote
  • Comments section - allows people to discuss the topic

4. Disadvantages:

  • Top "diggers" tend to get their stories to the front page more often (this used to be a matter of popularity... this may be mitigated
  • "Sponsored" diggs - groups manipulate the diggs to push their stories/sites to the front page
  • limited to either yes or no or abstain process for voting
  • Experts and Novice have the same amount of clout (votes are weighted the same)(could also be a pro)
