Descriptions
Moblog a new 'blended' word coined to describe a technology that integrates mobile devices and web-blogging on the internet. It is short for mobile-weblog. The technology allows content (video, graphics, pictures, texts) to be posted on the Internet via a mobile device, such as a cellular phone or PDA.
Its strength is in its ability to create just-in-time content and minimizes the chance of loosing ideas or thoughts that popped into our mind throughout the day. The greater stability and coverage of mobilephone network gives it an edge over the rest of technologies that rely on wireless internet connection.
Educational uses
In many Asian countries, mobile phone has become a very common possession of all students. Schools have almost given up the 'fight' to stop students from carrying mobile phone to school and currently, more are looking into educational uses of these mobile devices.
Singapore
When the telecommunication company in Singapore introduced Moblog to their user three years ago, a group of teachers reacted quickly and came together to design a series of learning activities that rode on the affordances of Moblog technology. The activities were designed for Grade 3 Math students. Various groups were sent off on a 'amazing race' around the school. There were four stops in the race and at each stop, they have to find a code from the location, send the code back via their cellphone inorder to get the challenge for that stop. For example, at one of the stop, the students were asked to use limited resources to measure the height of a school pillar. Once they sent in the answer, they can then proceed to the next stop according to the instruction revealed to them.
On a nation-wide scale, its Ministry of Education organizes an annual moblog competition for students of all level

Personal Questions and Thoughts (unfinished)
Similar to my thoughts on webblogging, I am not sure if moblogs supports a 'knowledge community' because so far, most of the moblog sites I looked at merely serve as an information gathering site. I did encounter one that post various problems on her site, e.g. how to close a bag without a bag clip?' and interestingly, many have posted videos to demonstrate their creative solution. I am not sure if I would qualify it as a technology that pushes the knowledge frontier??
