1. reddit is a 'news' service that provides a listing of the popular stories from across the world and the web. You vote on stories that you like or are interesting to you and those stories move up the ranking; furthermore, the more you vote on stories the more the site begins to tailor the listing to your tastes. reddit also rewards people who submit popular stories by giving them higher ratings.

2. Who uses reddit
Unsure of demographic but seems to be primarily male 16-34

3. Advantages

  • Popular stories of the collective rise to the top
  • System learns from you tastes to 'enhance' the information flow
  • Rewards good submissions punishes bad

4. Disadvantages

  • Are value judgments correct?
  • Narrowcasting
