Due to intractable technical issues, with some regret, we have dropped Player-Stage-Gazebo in favor of Microsoft Robotics Studio. Although Player-Stage-Gazebo is a fine robotics development platform, we feel that the system's initial learning curve and required technical expertise is too high for Player-Stage-Gazebo to be used as a viable pedagogical tool, especially in introductory-level robotics classroom context.

The Player Project creates Free Software that enables research in robot and sensor systems. The Player robot server is probably the most widely used robot control interface in the world. Its simulation backends, Stage and Gazebo, are also very widely used. The goal of this resource page in ENCORE is to promote the use of Player/Stage/Gazebo as a hands-on pedagogical tool in learning about robotics.
