Comment: Migrated to Confluence 4.0
  • Format of open dialog is good
  • Wiki could work better.
  • Need better structure in wiki.
  • Good structure model:
    • reading assigned beforehand
    • activity assigned beforehand
    • discussion
    • structured activity during class
  • It helped, to have the notion of a "knowledge-based community". This really helped to focus on specific groups, technologies, etc.
  • Cutting edge topics: truly new and emerging.
    • Not just the technology, but the application of it
    • Topics are broad and open to people's background and ideas
  • participatory, collaborative design was great
  • Would have been nice to have a cross section of the ideas early in the course, then bring those back
    • Possibly explore the previous year's wiki, do some reflection on the wider ideas
  • Great to meet people from different areas/disciplines
  • Good to note that people learn differently (reading, activities, etc.)
  • Really felt like you learned deeply in that area where you led the course
    • After having led a session, really empathized with others.
  • In terms of the materials and processes from last year, and how to use them:
    • Students must be allowed to take a new tack, but also to re-work an existing one
    • Our efforts can be a good example. It would actually be HELPFUL to have these examples.
    • Designing the activities for the class was challenging, but a good exercise in how to get people exchanged in learning about the topic.
    • May be good to distill the efforts into a summary, and then add a brief description about the detailed content. Or maybe reveal the detail in "passes" - first impression, second impression, etc.
    • natural curiosity should be encouraged, to take over.
  • Need to track resources (papers, sites, materials), main approaches (broad definition of activity) , and outcomes (here are some cool categories that emerged).
